The appearance of Japanese rider Takaaki Nakagami on the MotoGP preseason test at Buriram Circuit, Thailand, 16-18 February 2018 turned Cal Crutchlow and Marc Marquez into laughter. However, the laughing expression of these two riders is not intended to patronize Nakagami.
Marquez and Crutchlow were impressed with the debutant rider. Nakagami had managed to steal the attention on the MotoGP Buriram test with rookie pebalap status who achieved the best results.
"We have to start by praising Nakagami, he's riding a rocket-like motorcycle, I know he's fast, but his progress is remarkable than it was two years ago," Crutchlow was quoted as saying by Crash on Saturday (24/3/2018).
"Honestly, me and Marquez laughed when we saw Nakagami, we realized how quickly he turned the corner in some areas," continued the British rider.
Interestingly, the presence of Nakagami in LCR Honda did not pose a threat to Crutchlow. He is ready to teach some things to Nakagami.
"I will try to help him as much as possible, though perhaps Nakagami will never need that," Cal Crutchlow said.
For Takaaki Nakagami, the opportunity to join the MotoGP team is a dream come true.
The 25-year-old rider has been looking forward to his debut race in the MotoGP class since he first started his career in Moto2 in 2012.
